The wood originated in the mountains of Northern Colorado.
The timber yard said the logs came from the largest spruce tree felled in nearly 50 years.
Every log was hand-split and dried over several years.
This very old tree grew slowly in the dry Rocky Mountain climate.
Such conditions occasionally produce nice tonewood, with rare and exquisite bear claw figuration.
